This little angel was born one month early on December 7, Pearl Harbor Day. She has brought more joy into our lives than we could have ever imagined. She is what keeps us all going after the tragedy of losing her daddy only five days after she was born. The thoughts can swirl in your head. He will never see her steps, her first words, her starting kindergarten or graduating high school, get to dance with him or walk her down the aisle one day. But if we allow our thoughts to be saddened by all of these events, we would miss out on the joy and all of God‘s plans that he has for Olivia. We will continue to pray for strength, and courage throughout her life. And allow God to heal us each and every day. Dr. Nicholas Drummond was an amazing professor of political science at Black Hills University, a loving husband, father, friend, son, uncle, and the best son-in-law, Erik & I could’ve ever dreamed of. #weprayed we just didn’t think it would end so soon. The river in the mountains is one of my favorite things on earth. Growing up and going to Colorado each summer to Estes Park with my family was one of my greatest memories from childhood. My dad and I used to go hiking and we would always sit by the river and maybe skip a rock or 2. It’s like the movie title the river runs through it (one of my favorite movies by the way) this is how our life is matter what happens the river keeps running. We have choices and decisions to make through our high and our lows in life. It’s 2:14 am and I am up feeding sweet little Livy. I’m crying my eyes out thinking about all of the things that her daddy is never going to get to do or see as she grows up. Erika Laine and I were talking before we went to bed and although we are grateful for the five days that he was still alive as he got to hold his beautiful daughter, or experience getting to be a father. Something he wanted for a long time. And like she said, it was time only in the hospital! They never got to come home as a family, never got to have their first Christmas together, spend New Year’s Eve together. All of the first that will never happen is almost unbearable to watch your child go through such loss, and sadness. Lord, help me to understand your plan, help me to forgive you for taking him from this earth so soon. I pray that we find the answers as to why he passed away. I pray that Lord, you bring comfort, peace and healing, and one day bring joy back into my daughters life as she raises little Livy without her wonderful husband by her side. The retreat was a perfect getaway for me! It was in a beautiful, secluded location and the cabin was rustic but elegant and so comfortable. The food was fantastic - for the soul and body. I totally enjoyed my weekend at Amazing Grace Retreats. Erika is truly a gem of a friend and it was so special to be part of her first Amazing Grace Retreat! It was a very peaceful, rejuvenating weekend with amazing women and I left the retreat feeling refreshed and more connected with our loving God. We stayed in a beautiful cabin with a breathtaking view of the Black Hills. The weekend was filled with so many activities yet so relaxing (i.e. going to the peaceful spa, doing yoga, hiking, watching movies, hot-tubbing, enjoying delicious meals, participating in individual and group spiritual activities, etc.). I am thankful I took time out of my busy schedule to attend the Amazing Grace Retreat!
